1. Talk about people, places and familiar objects in short and simple sentences.

Warmer                                                   10 minutes

 

1. Show the pictures/ power point slide of the platform of a railway station. Explain the words: platform, passenger, compartment, luggage, porter and hawker by pointing out people and objects. Ask Ss:

 

● What place is it?

● Why do we go there?

● What can you see in the picture?

● What are people doing? 

 

Section A                                                 15 minutes

 

2. Ask Ss to orally describe the scene at the railway station. Prompt if necessary.

 

3. Describe the pictures in the following way:

 

“In the picture we can see the platform of a railway station. A train has arrived at the railway station. It is standing at the station. Some passengers have got down from compartments of the train. They are getting out of the platform. A porter is carrying the luggage of one passenger on his head. Other passengers are getting on the train. A hawker is also standing on the platform. The train will be leaving soon.”

 

 

See if Ss can identify people and objects in the picture and respond to questions ask by the teacher.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ask Ss to describe orally the scene at the railway station.

1. Talk about people, places and familiar objects in short and simple sentences.

Section B                                                 20 minutes

 

4. Divide Ss into groups of 4. Give each group a poster/ picture of a shopping place, a bus station or a fair.

 

5. Ask groups to orally discuss in groups what they can see their picture, what different activities are taking place and who are doing those things.

 

6. Ask a S from each group to come to the front, show the picture and orally describe what is happening in the picture.

 

 

 

Ask student to talk about pictures in groups. Move around to listen how well Ss are doing it.

 

 

Poster/ picture of a shopping place, a bus station or a fair.
